'Grand Theft Auto IV,' commonly abbreviated to 'GTA IV,' is an action-adventure game for the PlayStation 3 console. Rockstar North developed it and Rockstar Games published it in April 2008. If you've already followed protagonist Niko Bellic through the game's single-player story mode and are looking for something new, you can try installing mods. Mods, short for modifications, are user-made content for the game. Mods can include anything from gameplay tweaks to entirely new content.
As of version 0.18.5, our new mod manager Vortex now supports modding for all of the above games meaning you can use Vortex to mod 59 different games total. Moreover, multi-variant mods - that’s mods that give you multiple options, such as different colours for armour replacers etc. for many games, including the above (with the exception.
Start your PS3 and enter the dashboard.
Start your PS3's FTP client. Record the PS3's IP address. You will need this in order to transfer mods from your computer to your PS3.
Launch your PC's FTP client. If you don't have one, you will need to download and install one.
Find and open the 'Host' setting in your PC's FTP client. Type your PS3's IP address into the 'Address' field. The exact name of this setting and field may vary depending on your FTP client. Click 'Connect' to connect your PC to your PS3.
Locate the GTA IV folder on your PS3's hard drive. The file path may differ depending on your system, but it is commonly located at 'hddoGAMESGTA4.' Open the GTA IV folder. Locate the 'USRDIR' folder within your 'GTA4' folder.
Find your downloaded GTA IV mod files. These are 'common.rpf' and 'PS3.rpf.' You may have downloaded them in an archive file, so be certain you have extracted them. Transferring the archive will not work.

Drag-and-drop or cut-and-paste the two files from our PC to your PS3 using your FTP client. Overwrite the old files if the client asks if you wish to do so. Close your PC's FPT client once the files have finished transferring and return to your PS3.
Exit your PS3's FTP manager. Return to the PS3 dashboard and load your backup manager. Find and open GTA IV. Return to your dashboard. Delete any GTA IV game data. This ensures game compatibility with your mod.
Launch GTA IV. Refuse to update. Updating will render your mod incompatible, and may also prevent you from successfully launching the game. The game will install your mod.
Tips
Create a backup of your original 'common.rpf' and 'PS3.rpf' files so that you can reverse the mod when you finish with it. You may need to 'jail break' your PS3 before you can successfully install mods.

As bummed as we were to hear the news that the PC release of Grand Theft Auto V got delayed, it's not the end of the gaming world as we know it. Yes, we'll have to wait a couple of extra months to see the personally-computerized splendor of San Andreas, but in the mean time we can still bask in the glow of all the excellent mods that are available for GTA IV! Here are 10 of our favorite mods for Grand Theft Auto IV on PC.iCE Enhancer
While there are a ton of cool visual upgrades to GTA 4, none have made headlines as much as Hayssam Keilany's iCEnhancer. Keilany's mod takes the building blocks of Boris Vorontsov's ENBseries and cranks it up to eleven, turning Liberty City into an almost photo-realistic digital version of Manhattan - if your gaming rig can handle it.
Shark-O-Matic
Sometimes you want to leave realism behind and ask the tough questions - like 'Is there a gun that, when shot at people, will cause sharks to crash through the pavement and eat them?' Of course, the answer to that question is yes. While it originally appeared in Saints Row: The Third, modder JulioNIB (who appears a few more times on this list) has managed to bring this concrete carnage to the streets of Broker, Bohan and Algonquin.
Mech Suit Mayhem
When in doubt, you can never go wrong with a giant robot - unless that giant robot then goes full Skynet and turns against you. Thankfully, though, with the various mech suit mods available for GTA IV, you'll always remain in control of your robotic death machine. There are several variations of the mech suit mods from metalwars, from the Wanzer Frost or Crimson Mecha to a Hawken-inspired Sentium M5 - all of which are worth checking out.Left 4 Liberty: Infection
If there was one thing missing from GTA IV's initial release, it was an Undead Nightmare-esque zombie mode. Luckily, motorsport71's Left 4 Liberty mod allows Niko Bellic to go on the apocalyptic rampage he's always wanted. The mod adds a script that causes various NPC's to randomly become flesh-hungry monsters - which leads to absolute chaos on the streets. Pedestrians and police fight for their lives against the growing horde, helicopters crash as their pilots become infected and groups of survivors band together to defeat the newfound zombie menace. Turning a bright sunny day into a blood-soaked zombocalypse has never been as simple or rewarding.
LCPDFR
Another excellent conversion mod is LCPDFR by G17 Media. Formally known as Liberty City Police Department: First Response, this mod takes you out of the shoes of a murderous psychopath and puts you squarely in the boots of Libery's Finest. Duties as a police officer can include anything from routine traffic stops to foiling bank robberies - or just stopping and frisking any random pedestrian you feel like hassling.Gravity Gun
Another great mashup mod is sjaak327's Simple Trainer. Not only is it a great tool for learning to mess with the game itself - it also includes a Half-Life-2-esque Gravity Gun, which is... just... awesome. The Delorean Time Machine
If you're in the mood to try and create some temporal paradoxes, look no further than the Back to the Grand Theft Auto mod from Sersorroza and the Time Travel mod from bttf92. Transforming a boring old Super GT into a DeLorean time machine will let anyone in Libery answer the question 'What makes time travel possible?'

Superheroes
Of course, no list of favorite mods would be complete without the ones that turn Niko Bellic into more than just a man. With these mods from H1Vltg3, JulioNIB, wapeddell, Quechus13 and Sersorroza, players can transform themselves into Iron Man, don a cape and cowl to pilot the Batmobile, or unleash their inner Hulk for some ultimate destruction. These are just some of the great mods available for GTA IV - what are some of your favorites? Let us know in the comments below, and be sure to check back in March when GTA V launches on PC to get all the info on the best mods as they come out!
